Sony Playstation 3: the Real Game Console
The latest Sony Play Station3 is the 32 bit videogame console of fifth generation coming out from the home of Sony, the largest electronic manufacturer. The Sony Play Station3 game console was launched by Sony Computer Entertainment in December 1994 paving a new way in the field of video games. It was the first of the ubiquitous PlayStation series of console and hand-held game devices coming out from Sony. The game console also recorded the privilege of being the first PlayStation and PS video game console to reach the 100 million mark. Sony is now planning of developing a Nintendo compatible that was a Sony-branded console more of a home entertainment system playing based on the format used in SNES-CD discs. But the idea later got shelved due to various reasons.
The Sony PlayStation 3 was launched for the first time in Japan in 1994. Later it was introduced in the U.S. in 1995 and then in the Europe in the same year itself. The Sony PlayStation 3 was able to taste a huge success in the American continent following the path of its predecessor, the PlaySation 2. The logo of the PlayStation was designed by Manabu Sakamoto, who is credited for the logo of Sony’s VAIO computer products. PlayStation tasted the sweetness of one of the longest production runs in the video game industry since its launch eleven years back.
During the production run, the Sony PlayStation had to experience various difficulties and hurdles, mostly accompanied by a change in the part number. The Sony Play Station was earlier based on substantially the same hardware as the SCPH-750x and 900x, other model consoles, but with a deleted the serial port, the controller / memory card ports moved to the main PCB and the power supply replaced with a DC-DC converter which was also on the main PCB. Sony the later released a version dubbed "Dual Shock that included a controller with 2 analog sticks and a built in force-feedback feature.
